Academic Writing
Madam Natasha teaches us this subject. We always do a lot of practices together to get a better understanding of the topic.
I think synthesis is quite challenging to do. Having to come up with your own main ideas from two or three different texts and having to paraphrase them. However, in class, we've done many practices with the guidance of Madam Natasha.
We learned how to write a good essay. There are five steps into producing a great essay.
There is also a format that we have to adhere to when writing an essay:
1. Introduction
-Consists of a thesis statement
2. 3 Body Paragraphs
- Topic sentence which contains the main idea
- Supporting details
- Concluding sentence
3. Conclusion
- Restatement of thesis statement.
In total there are 5 paragraphs.
Since everything was done online, we had our mid-term exams online too. From my marks, I would like to improve better and formulate better main ideas as well as polishing my skills in analyzing texts.
I learned how to cite and the importance of citation. To support our main ideas in the essay, we needed to cite from other sources.
